Brief Description:
Under the direction of the Technology Manager (TM) with dotted line reporting to the Director of Skyway Operations, the IT Systems Engineer III - Skyway, will be responsible for providing primary and frontline support for the entire operational technology stack including SCADA system, Train control system and related applications and IT infrastructure needs of the JTA Skyway system aka automated elevated people mover. The primary functions would include on-call support for the operations technology stack including applications, equipment deployed in the various Skyway stations such as passenger information displays, Public Address systems, passenger emergency phones and IT infrastructure including servers and network. Additional duties include planning, implementing, coordinating upgrades and maintaining all the information systems that support the operations of the Skyway system. This role requires on-site presence, and remote work is allowed only on an exception basis by prior approval. Periodically, this role also requires work to be performed after hours i.e., after 9:00 PM and on weekends.
Essential Function(s):
STANDARD DUTIES:
With minimal supervision, coordinate with vendors and other JTA IT teams, the support and maintenance of all IT & OT systems used by the Skyway including servers and Network.
Support the Skyway operations team by acting as the primary IT support person responsible for all operational technology including SCADA, Train control system and related applications used at the Skyway.
Primary support for and rider focused IT equipment deployed at the Skyway stations such as Public Address system, Emergency Phone system, Automated Passenger information display system.
Primary support for operations focused IT equipment deployed at the Skyway stations such as people counters, Guideway Intrusion detection system, Early warning Alarm System, facilities surveillance camera system.
Ensure all Skyway IT & OT system adhere to cybersecurity best practices.
Conducting periodic visual inspections of the various operations focused IT equipment and systems deployed across all Skyway facilities and coordinate maintenance and defect resolution through the various vendors.
Work with and supervise vendors to resolve escalated issues.
Provide desktop support to users in the Skyway department.
Diligently use the IT ticketing system to track issues to resolution keeping the Skyway Operations updated on progress.
Provides status to management periodically or as requested and performs other related duties as assigned.
Works with management to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes for diverse infrastructure platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technologies and tools.
Participates in infrastructure reviews, primarily to determine if the infrastructure complies with internal standards or generally follows best practices for large-scale server configuration management.
Mentor and supports other IT staff in implementation of projects as needed.
Keep all IT systems current by deploying the new versions and patches from each software vendor following standard Change Management procedures.
Performs mandatory storm/disaster job related functions that are essential to the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and/or the EOC.
SKYWAY IT & OT Systems that must be maintained:
Automatic Train System (ATS) including the modems and servers that support the Guideway communication system.
SCADA.
Early warning alarm system.
Passenger Information Display System (PIDS).
Radio System and conversation recording system.
Facilities surveillance video camera System:
Guideway intrusion detection system.
Public address System.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other appropriate related field; and a minimum of 3 years working in a Systems Engineer, Systems Admin or equivalent role.

HS Diploma or equivalent; a total of 6 Certifications or Accredited College Courses in relevant Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other related areas; and a minimum of 3 years working in a Systems Engineer, Systems Admin or equivalent role.

HS Diploma or equivalent; and a minimum of 5 years working in a Systems Engineer, Systems Admin or equivalent role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Production support of critical Applications.
Windows and Linux server management experience.
Networking experience including managing Switches.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The Systems Engineer III works mainly in an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet. Position may include working nights, weekends, and/or holidays in specific circumstances. Physical demands may include:
Sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods.
Performing repetitive motion.
Periodic lifting of equipment (less than 30 lbs.)
